What are we doing to support a sustainable future?

We are delighted to be supporting the Transition project for the third year now. As a leading provider for software in agriculture, we always put our customers at the forefront of what we do and aim to make data management more seamless. Being a Transition partner means we can contribute by offering the wider industry our expert knowledge. This in turn will enable better decision making on the journey towards a sustainable future for farm businesses in the UK.

Farmers Weekly Transition Project

We have recently committed to our third year of participation in the Transition Project led by Farmers Weekly. This project aims to raise awareness among UK farmers about the available methods and strategies to enhance sustainability, especially as the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) is phased out. According to project research, a significant number of farmers perceive their current farming practices as unsustainable. Notably, around 78% of survey respondents expressed concerns about replacing the income that will be lost.

“In future, government support for agriculture will require farmers to undertake an increasing amount of environmental work: improving soil health, air and water quality and storing carbon to help mitigate the impact of climate change.

All this means growers and livestock producers must refocus their farm businesses to generate a bigger return from the market place – optimising enterprise performance to ensure they remain viable and thrive while looking after the environment.” Johann Tasker, Transition Reporter FW.

As active participants in the Steering Group of this project, we underscore our commitment to continuous learning and our dedication to identifying innovative methods that enable us to better support our farming community.
