How can GateKeeper software help with crop management?
Whatever the type and size of farm, both crop and vegetable
farmers can use crop
recording software to facilitate informed management, planning
and purchasing decisions.
Changes in economics, legislation and environmental demands
leave farmers under pressure to improve management processes to
keep the farm profitable and demonstrate compliance.
5 ways you can utilise GateKeeper to help you:
1) Field
records:
- Easily record notes for each individual field such as field
applications, harvest results, soil analysis and more.
- Remove the need to manually search through your paper records.
View and retrieve your records with just a few clicks e.g. for an
inspection to demonstrate compliance from a pesticide usage, crop
assurance or traceability perspective.
- Monitor physical and financial aspects of your fields and
crops.
2) Field
operations:
- Save time and manage your paperwork more efficiently by
creating work plans or job sheets for operators within the program.
Print off the work plans or job sheets for
operators.
- Check your planned pesticide applications against RB209. You
can set up a job within the program stating what you plan to spray
a field with. The optional Active Sentinal module can warn you with
a 'failed verification' if the application doesn't comply e.g. too
much quantity of a selected spray. The verification gives you the
chance to amend the planned job before it takes place.
3) Stock
control and margins:
- Manage your stock . Know exactly where and how much of a
product is stored. If you wanted to find out how much of a product
you had left in order to spray a field you could easily view this
information, calculate the output spray and adjust your records
accordingly.
- Assess farm performance by identifying what crops, varieties or
fields are the most productive by looking at financial margins. Use
the information held in your software package to see how much it
has cost you to grow a specific crop over a specific acreage and
how much profit you made from the crop compared to the previous
year.
4) Share and exchange
information:
- If your agronomist uses GateKeeper then you can import his /
her recommendations directly into the program without needing to
enter the data manually. You can also send field data from the
program to your agronomist. Secure networks for exchanging data
help ensure your data is protected and only the intended recipients
can view the data.
5) Reports:
- Reports can automatically be generated from the data stored in
the program. The reports can be used as an easy way to view
important management information. A wide range of reports are
available such NVZ reports, reports to demonstrate compliance with
Farm Assurance requirements and reports that show supply chain and
pesticide usage information.
If you are looking for a better approach to managing your field
and crop applications, whether your current system is taking up too
much of your time or you would like to find an easier way to
demonstrate compliance with legislative requirements, GateKeeper crop
management software could be a solution.
