Cattle Manager links with stick readers as standard. However, there is also the option to link Cattle Manager to data loggers, weigh heads and PDA devices.
The following video shows you how you can download your cattle records from Cattle Manager onto a PDA device so that you can take the records out on the farm. You can also update actions on the device whilst with the animals, then sycronise the PDA with your computer back at the office to update your cattle records.
The video is a practical demonstration of using EID recording systems with Farmplan cattle software. Before going out to the yard set up devices by clicking on devices and select the actions you want to record against those animals. The software will give a list of actions to choose from. Select the actions you want to be able to record whilst out on farm and download these onto the logger. You will also add any animals you want to work with on the farm to the logger.
Once downloaded we can see on the logger the details relating to each animal. Clicking on one of the cows enables you to see it's date of birth, breed, category, any previous breeding information, her previous calves and history such as treatments. If, whilst on farm, you want to log a new event against the animal then you simply select the action from the list that was downloaded from the system. Actions to animals that are recorded in the logger can then be uploaded into the software on return to the office updating the relevant animal records within the cattle software program.
